Beautiful.

Wow...I think this is the first time i cried from a submission on newgrounds.

lol

lol

Well, you can tell it was made by Cheese.

Since it was so cheesy. Like, when I saw the title, I was like, "Man I had to see this! It's gonna be so badass!" and then I start to see this piano intro....and this announcer guy....eh, well it was kind of funny. Still, the animation left alot to be worked on, try to make the curves more sharp and use more colors in your charatcer. And please, make the piano keys have a consistent size -.-

The worst of the series

Because its drawn the best. Cmon, the beauty of this series was in its crappiness, man. But now, all of a sudden, some random guy comes and redraws your character to make em look all nice, and now the very feel of the cartoon changes. Especially since all the NPCs look crappy in comparison. Cmon dude, the jokes weren't even funny this time around. Delinquient? Gesundheit, using that joke like 6 times? I didn't even laugh this time around. The other episodes I would laugh the entire way, like the oil in the well. That was funny! This? Its like the New Numa Dance, or Toof 7. Both were good toons gone to waste.

Sirschmoopy responds:

I always said that graphics didn't matter to this series, so to dock it marks because they got better is just silly.

Good animation, bad concept.

You shouldn't have taken the lyrics so literally, be a bit more creative. I mean, every thing the singer said was depicted on the screen. They are metaphors you know. But, its good animation, so I gave you an 8.

Very nice animation.

+ Animaiton was very detailed and accurate. You used a wacom tablet, right?
+ Guitar fit the cartoon
+ Very nice backgrounds and scenery
- Bad acting. Sorry man, you're a great musician and animator, but not a good actor.
- Fight scene should have been less detailed. Try using less specific frames, and blur some of them to make it seem faster. It seemed like it was playing in slow motion. Look at Adam Philipps cartoons, he uses this technique.
- Nymph's bosom looks awkward.
- PLOTHOLE! Wizard has short hair. No one cut their hair back then (at least not the Norse or the Vikings, and their mythology is obviously the cartoon's theme.)

Overall: 8.85/10

The cartoon uses great detailed animation, but needs the added effort of a great scriptwriter/actor to make this into an aweinspiring series.

Ghosty22 responds:

Nope... I don't know what a "wacom tablet" is. I'm guessing it's some sort of drawing tool. I use a mouse.

Well... I guess I can't argue with the point that I'm a bad actor, because that's what most people say. But most of the time I was just narrating. I didn't feel as if I was doing anything different from any other narrator I've heard.

I'm not sure why you think this story has something to do with any cultures that have existed in our Earth's history. The cultures here are fictional. I wrote this intending for it to take place in an Earth-like world, not "Earth" as we know it. Lord of the Rings, as far as I know, didn't take place on our planet. Tolkein makes reference to things in our world like coffee, golf, and the weapons that were used in medieval times, but the races, cultures, countries, magic, and religions don't fit into our planet's history. The same goes for Ursula K. LeGuin's "Earthsea," or David Eddings' Belgariad series, or George R. R. Martin's "Game of Thrones."

I think that any time you encounter a story like this one, where you see magic, or anything that doesn't exist in our world, it's probably a safe assumption that it takes place in some kind of parallel dimension, where history and evolution, and even the laws of nature have taken a slightly different course. So yeah... I wasn't basing Nuok's culture on vikings or anything like that. He's got his own culture, and that culture has it's own unique practices.

But I'm glad you brought that up, because I've had people review me, thinking the same thing. One guy said the characters should have English accents... I didn't agree, because none of these characters are English. In their world, there is no "England" or "America." The movie that you're watching is essentially a story that has been modified for people in our dimension. Most likely, the characters here wouldn't even be speaking our language at all, so accents, I don't think, are even a factor.

Anyway, thanks for the comments.

Alright man, you admit that you need tips

So I will gladly provide. One, get voice actors, its REALLY BORING to read text. You can search the voice acting club on google, and it'll pop up. Ask your request, you more than likely will get some pretty good actors. Two, most of your questions can be solved in a convienient section on newgrounds, called FLASH HELP (its a collection) just search tutorial and you'll get thousands of great results. Some obvious ones, lip synching, backgrounds, animation (the stick figures did look like they were walking, so kudos for that). And ultimately, if you look up a animation book in the library, or buy a wacom tablet (its a thing that lets you draw on a pad, and it is transferred to the computer directly) and lots of practice. Don't worry about full-scale projects, just learn how to draw, how the human body moves, and its correct proportions. In due time, wilth motivation and research, you can be a great animator. Look at Castle III, its a great animaiton right? Look at Castle I now. Similar to your submission. Look where the man is now. (More than two years practice, at least)

Hope this helps.

PS. The script also was weak, but dont worry about that now.

Not bad

The Sephiroth and the enemies didn't look bad, and the fighting wasn't bad either. However, the background was a bit awkward looking with the tiles. I think there's a tutorial somewhere on newgrounds that teaches you how to make tiled depth perception. Also, the story was too short and kind of random. But I didn't think you planned this to be a full-scale project, more of a test of your animating abilities. I liked it.

fadedshadow responds:

you're right, man and can u find me this tutorial?

Not bad.

It was pretty nice, and original compared to other NG works. Though, its kinda obvious who has a good mike and who doesn't, the blond little kid had a lot of feedback on his mike. I liked the theme song, but the bears mouths werent lip synched. Did you do that on purpose? Nice animation too, you used a wacom tablet, right?

ExcellentFriends responds:

The bear lip sync was intentionally bad, mostly because we had an excuse to do it quickly.

The episode was drawn primarily with a mouse.

3.34/5.00 and 6.07/10.00 Average. Should be higher

Since August was it, since the whole Toof Craze? And now you're back, and I see your honest work man, good thing you finally cleared your head. Been a while since I laughed at a cartoon. How long did it take you to make this one? Defintely more than 8 hours. I think this series has had a nasty fall, but like a phoenix, rise from the ashes. Hey, PhoenixToof, Phoenix Wrong and Toof combined? Good idea huh?
